This browser can't write to folders, so edits are collected and handed back as a zip to unpack over your repo. Chrome or Edge write directly. The browser lists every file in the folder first, which takes a moment on a full checkout. Firefox's dialog calls this an upload; it isn't, the files stay in this tab (the network tab of the dev tools shows it).
